My Infl Rest warning and seat belt icon are staying on again. I cleaned and protected both frame sensors and reset the lights a couple of months ago. I'm fairly certain that the return of the indicators is a different problem. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Did you find anything out with your problem? I have the same problem. 3wks after cleaning the FL module, (under the A/C unit) the lights came back on. Tonight, I plan on checking the codes and cleaning them again. Hoping that its not the modules themself. :smash:
I have a 90 Coupe this happened to me some time ago. Sometimes it won't help by just cleaning the mounting surface. Disconnect the Battery first then peel back the carpet down by your feet. The INFL restraint's sensor comes through the firewall down there it has a yellow covering on it. It pulls apart very easy. You should see three pins inside the pigtail that comes from the frame sensor. Get yourself an OHM meter and test all three pins. Pin 1 being at the top Pin 2 bottom left Pin 3 bottom right. Pins 1&2 10,000 ohms 1&3 10,000 ohms 2&3 less than 1 ohm. If they do not ohm out right then you replace the bad frame sensor they are about $60 bucks. If they both ohm out ok then you have to pull the dash out to replace the main DERM. After all the repairs are done then clear all the codes GOOD LUCK MOST OF THE TIME IT'S A FRAME SENSOR :yesnod:
How tough is this DERM replacement on a '90? I'll likely need to do one after a collision repair and I've got one from a '90 that the bags had "NOT" been deployed. Would you happen to have a "clock spring" for a '90? I've got one from a converted road racer but rather than remove the harness down the column it was cut very close to the coil itself. It's cut so short it will make a difficult splice.
Doing similar airbag replacements on early and mid '90 GM cars it seems most of the time only a damaged sensor needs replaced rather than the whole vehicle SIR system. Your experience here if you don't mind.
WVZR1 i've traced the wires up to the DERM it is located behind or under the radio. You have to remove the carpeted panels by your knees and the side panels along the sides of the console to access it. The wires leading to it are also covered by a yellow covering. If ya need more info I can copy the pages of the GM Service manual and FAX them to ya. What codes did it flash out on the Driver Info Center? LET ME KNOW HOW YA MADE OUT
