Default Throttle Body Water Bypass

I am planning on removing the hot water hoses from my throttle body. I have read where you can plug each water hose or connect them together. It would be easier to remove the intake hose fitting and plug it while capping off the other hose coming out of the heater core. I was looking at the configuration and it seems to me by plugging the hoses the water will not be able to move through the heater core.

Is my observation correct? If it is then the only reasonable choice is to manifold the two hoses together and bypass the TB. Thanks for any feedback.

replace the 2 hoses with one long one. I don't like messing with Corvette cooling systems anymore than I have to!!!

I re-routed the water lines such that the water hose goes forward alongsise the the right wheel and loops back into the front of the engine. Doing this really cleans up a congested area (throttle body) of the engine. If you want a picture, please advise.

You are absolutely correct. If you just plug the hoses you won't have a heater. Either couple them together or do like the others have said and replace it with a single hose.

:iagree: With the previous posts. If you cap off each of the 2 hoses, your Heater will not work. The heater uses hot coolant to produce hot air. What you want to do is get a longer hose with a 90 degree bend at the end, and run it from the bottom intake outlet to the heater core line, bypassing the TB all together. That is all there is to it.

Thanks for the info. Since my car is a vert, my wife would never go for owning a car without a heater. I will now proceed with figuring out what hose configuration I will use to complete the project.

The cooler the air comming in=the more you can cram in there :D
I did it for ease of tb removal and to clean up engine bay
No ugly heater hose going over valve cover after routing hose under ac compressor, directly to intake manifold.

Under severe conditions G.M. concluded their was a chance of the TB icing up, thus the heated TB

There's a claim of some additional power by doing this mod since you do not have the hot coolant going through the TB so air is cooler going in.

It would help if some true believer would measure the air temperature before and after the TB while at full power. I doubt there is much difference.

Dyno tests are hard to do accurately enough. There is enough variation in dyno runs back to back to hide or create some of the performance improvements that have been claimed.

Air temp is easy to measure and it's easy to correct power for difference in air temp. And it's more accurete than trying to find 3 to 5 hp differences in different dyno runs.

If I believed it made a real differance I would measure the temps myself, but I don't.

Here you go:
- coolant temp 194F ie warm engine when tested
- outside temp 40F
- air temp at air filter 42F (underhood ambient temp not affecting much :) )
- intake air temp 110F (inside the plenum, reading from a scanner)

Can somebody with the bypass mod and a scanner check what the intake air temp is without preheating? After that we should have a clear picture of this.
