Default LEAN POP!

OK... How many of you guys have heard of "LEAN POP"? I have heard of pre ignition or detonation but lean pop is something new to me?

I am working on a truck that is running a vortech and he says at low rpm he gets lean pop? So I listened to this "LEAN POP" and it sounded like this spark plug missed or his spark plugs wires where arcing? But I wanted to see what the forum thought?

I had a carb on a truck plug up and go lean and it popped like a bad distrubuter...had the carb rebuilt and fixed it...also high preformance snowmobil engines will give a lean pop but not like the truck did...I'm trying to understand why a lean mix will pop in the manifold?....I guess a lean mix will burn at a lower temp? thus the open valve during intake is hot enough to lite a fire in the manafold?.........anyway Kevin I know from experiance it can happen.

2 stroke motors are bad about lean popping. When it is running bad lean, at a high rpm the motor will start popping because it does not have enough fuel with the air intake. A 4 stroke motor would have to be running really lean in order to pop. I have never heard of a 4 stroke motor doing this, have witnessed 2 stroke four-wheeler doing this.
