finally got around to purchasing a PST front end rebuilt kit from Power Performance Motorsports. figured since i'm going to have to replace all 4 ball joints on the front, i might as well go ahead and buy the kit to replace all the bushings and tie rod ends too :D should be fun
anyways they needed to know the front sway bar diameter. i looked at mine on my 86 and it looks to be 1". does that sound right for a factory suspension car? it's not a Z51. what size did the Z51 cars come with?
You're correct, the standard FE1 suspension came with a 26mm tubular front sway bar, which is roughly an inch. The Z51 bar for that year was a 30mm solid bar.
Harbor Freight tools sells a digital caliper for around $25. I bought one, and it has come in very handy measuring various things, such as sway bar bushing sizes.
