Well I got invited to participate in a private track rental yesterday. Got there not knowing what to expect....$10 dollar entry/participation cost. WAY CHEAP. Only about 20-25 cars there from 12noon-4:30pm!!! It was just open time shots all day long. Exactly what I needed to get this car straighted out.
First run was 10.9@124MPH.
after some playing with the timing. I retarded it 6* total to get a new best MPH of 127.4MPH and 10.7 ETs on horrible 60' times. THey were not taking real good care of the track, but I wasn't complaining. It was GREAT to be able to come back to the pits, take your time and make methodical changes, go out and test and repeat. Got about 8-10 runs in during the day event.
Then if that was not good enough, the tech guy came and told everyone we could stay for the night event and there would be no additional charge. I was planning on staying for the competition anyways. So then I got another 4 time shots all 10.7@126-127MPH.
Qualified for the quick 8 which was pretty fun since there are some pretty impressive cars there. I beat out the top points leader in the first round. Wound up going several rounds and I bogged real bad due to low fuel against the second points leader, who talking to the pits said I had him beat at the tree bigtime, and without the bog, I would have eliminated him also. So that was alot of fun as well.
All in all the day was very exciting. The one tech guy came up between the two events and was asking about the car. I told him that I thought the car should be hitting 130+ MPH without the MAF and 58mm throttle body. But I wanted to see where I could push it too. He said, 127MPH----you mean 129MPH. I told him no that 127 was all I got today. He then explained that this track is 2MPH off and .2 sec from all the other tracks. Thinking back on the times that I ran there other years, I was always a tad slower there. So potentially if he was right, I could have gone 129MPH!! The DA all day was 2000+, so in good weather this thing might have a change of going 131 with the MAF!!
I know if I could dead hook it, it would run low 10.6 as it sits and in that weather, so I feel its pretty well dialed in at this point. Just got done doing a chip and I am heading out to meet Corky at Keystone for some more runs today.
I will do some more tweaking there also, but would like to get a 129MPH out of it today first run.
Talk to you all later tonight. :lurk:
so its true some track can be a little fast or slowr maybe that answers the 118 mph i got in the 1/8 mile hhhh. good luck ski i hope every thing go great for u and the guys   :flag
