Default pollution control device

Ok, another question about the gas fume I smell? I installed that smog pump replacement kit... Forgot to ask this before....Is that cannister in the very front under the drivers headlight, is it also part of the smog assembly ? Cause I noticed a bigger vacuum line running from it to a splitter behind the plenum---1 hose running to a port on the plenum and the other hose on splitter running down firewall to inside...Can I pull that cannister out of the engine area also? and just remove that splitter (making a direct line running from inside of car (I think its the ac control) to port "b" on the back of plennum? And port "a" is a line running directly to the fuel pressure regulator. Thats why I was wondering if a gas vapor is somehow running from that or not....Please help.....thankyou

Your fuel tank is sealed and that purge canister relieves fuel pressure. It is periodically purged into the intake during cruize.

It's your choice to remove it or leave it as it is an open loop system, i.e. the ECM won't know if it's there or not.

Well one of the lines to the purge canister is the fuel tank vent line so you will need to safely vent the tank somewhere.

Getting rid of it won't make you any faster. You know that right?
It collects the tank vapors, rather than venting them to the atmosphere. i.e. Air polution.
