Or I decided to back down my timing from 10* to 8*. Only problem was that the large cap was against the plenum and couldnt be backed off anymore. So I Rotated the entire disribuitor back. The fireing order is right but it wont run at any less than 12* and it pings like a mother (I could hear the valve clatter through the cover!). However, it idles fine. Theres a little popping out the exahust too.
Any suguestions before I tear it all apart and start over?

If the wires in the front of the dist are pointed at the middle of the intake base you should be fine so long as you get the rotor pointed right.
