dash lights 87 vette
my friend has a problem with dash lights. when he starts the car they are nice and bright, after five minutes they go dim,as if he turned the light switch to the lowest position.
turn the switch to full position and they still stay dim. it happens day or night.

That sounds like either a light sensor problem or that the bulbs need replacing, I can see how it'd be either or.
His bulbs probably need replacing anyway, there are 4 of them, and they are Sylvania 882.
