Well, i'm gonna tow a trailer, this one to Nevada for the Pony Express at the end of June. The boat is comming off, and with a little luck I'll have some stock 86 wheels on the trailer before I leave. The bolt patern is wrong and I'm working on getting new hubs with the right pattern to install. Otherwise welding will be in the near future.
I took of the GS wheels with the D3's today in order to be sure that I don't damage them. No repaired tires are allowed. I'm gonna throw the wheels, tools spare parts, BEER and some other stuff in the trailer and Motor.

You ought to find a rear cap you can graft onto the rear of the trailer and have some kind of cool "license plate" put on it. Then tell everybody that your boat has a Vette motor. :D
Re: HOT Vette Fourwheeling with Trailer?!!! IDIOT! (eschoendorff)
I'm doin' it. It's been in the planning stages for quite a while, and it was no small task installing the hitch. My initial plan was to be able to carry a jack some tools and tires and camping stuff to the track for weekend outings cause I can't afford a trailer and another vehicle to tow the car and equipment. And I don't want to be dependant on others to drag my stuff around.
Sure I could have got DR's instead of slicks, but I didn't, and I'm Corvette poor so I'm using what's on hand. Laugh, leave, whatever, I never was much of a crowd follower and I'm havin' fun  If I get to the Pony Express and back and don't have to try and mooch from others if I have a problem I'll be happy.
Nice job, and description Brian  Looks good  I used a reciever hitch and my spare will mount back up if I choose to put it back in. I'll have to check around for something like that. What size are the wheels and tires on there?

Re: HOT Vette Fourwheeling with Trailer?!!! IDIOT! (86Moon)
I've seen bigger trailers being pulled by C4's, I wouldn't do a big trailer, but for tires, it should be OK. Me and my buddy did a 2500 mile round trip with this:
Re: HOT Vette Fourwheeling with Trailer?!!! IDIOT! (86Moon)
Hey, that's mine! (er, the one Brian posted that is).
I think this is my 3rd season with it and still going to strong. Mostly local (100 mi. round trip) events, but it's been to the NCM once and out of town a couple of other times.
It pulls pretty well and about the only maintenance is air in the tires, grease in the bearings, and a little RustOleum on the stone chips.

Well, I was just gonna be happy to let this fade off the front page :bb since there seemed to be a lot of :nono: :nonod: going on. It was meant to be funny more than anything.
BUT--- since you revived it, I gotta sat you guys have me way outclassed (if such a thing can be considered classy at all, which, apparently if can't). Did you build that yourself Travis? It looks nice
I just don't think I'm gonna have the money to buy something nice before I gotta go. I've borrowed a ton of money for this car already and I still got at least a grand more to get really ready for this run :nonod: But, I'm goin' come hell or high water if my car isn't broke beyond my ability and time to fix before then
Re: HOT Vette Fourwheeling with Trailer?!!! IDIOT! (86Moon)
Well 86' I don't own a vette but have vette suspension under my '37 Terraplane with an LT1 and 460le trans. As we say in the street rod part of the automobile arena... do waht you like. You try pleasing everyone else and the next thing you know you are doing what you don't want...More power to you....  :flag
Re: HOT Vette Fourwheeling with Trailer?!!! IDIOT! (NavyVet)
Don't want to drag that to PDX do ya Paul :lolg: Hey man, you need to update your profile  What the heck are you doing lurking in here anyway :hat We're gonna miss ya man :flag
Re: HOT Vette Fourwheeling with Trailer?!!! IDIOT! (86Moon)
Colin, thanks, but I'm not going anywhere yet. I sold the 383 LT4, but still have the '89 race car. PDX? Fooled me - I had to look it up! Portland Oregon, not Maine, right? Tell you what, for the right price, I'd haul it up there! Here's a deal, I'll deliver my '89 with an 18' diamond plate/beavertail trailer & toss the tire trailer in - all for $18K. Paul :flag
