AC on - off continually

AC on - off continually

does anyone have an idea what would make the AC turn on and then off almost immediately. just checked it and it will not stay on. lifted the hood and can hear it turn on then off. it worked great before storage.
any help would be appreciated.

Most likely some of the charge leaked out during storage. Your low pressure switch is sensing this and shuts off the compressor

before i went to the 50th last year it was charged and they said they put dye in with it to see if it would leak (forgot about them doing that). now i need to start looking for the leak.

Yup, sound like low on Freon. If you watch your compressor click on and off that is a classic symptom. Also you might see your freon lines freezing up or are really cold to the touch. Mine actually had frost on it when I rased up the hood. Got a shot of R12 and fixed the problem.

Might also be high head pressure from a clogged orifice. That would be a bigger pain, cause you have to evacuate the system and clean it. :)
