I need a bit of help. I am trying to install a new driveshaft yoke seal on my 1985 corvette and am having quite a bit of trouble. I cannot seem to pull the old seal out! I am also concerned about the new seal, but I figure I can get away with a large pipe or other similar item. Please help me here! my baby is down and I need to get that seal installed. I do not want to have the vehicle towed.... I am sooo close. The yoke is out and I am staring at that POS seal. Please help ASAP!
Re: Help! Differential Driveshaft Yoke Seal Problems! (nonetooclose)
A large screwdriver or a small crowbar type tool ought to pry it out. It isn't necessary to get under the flange with a chizzel, but that might work, too. There are special "seal pullers" that thread a sheet metal screw into the metal part of the seal and use a slide hammer to yank them. You might try a similar type screw to pry or yank on. Give it Hell!
Re: Help! Differential Driveshaft Yoke Seal Problems! (CFI-EFI)
Thanks for the help! The seal puller from Sears made the job easy. The right tools make any job easy. Seal replaced and everything back up except for the exhaust... Sounds good without the mufflers!
