Default 90 L98 idle setting

i've read through the idle setting procedure in the tech section, but there seems to be an inconsistency. when setting the base idle, some resources say to leave the EST wire connected, while others say to disconnect it. also, does everyone with a manual try to go for a 450 idle in neutral? or do you aim a bit higher so that the iac has to work less and maybe have smoother airflow for a smoother idle?
