Default Track time in

Well, I finally made it to the track after a 2 week delay. rain 2 week ends in a row. The guys that was suppose to have run didn`t show. Good for me they didn`t . I went from a 2500 stall to a 2800 and this is what happen. Only ran the 1/8 mile. 1st run; 1.88 60` and 8.13 @85 mph . 2nd run: 2.2 60`(wheel spend) and 8.38 @84mph. 3rd run; 2.0 60` and 8.19 @84 mph, 4th run 1.83 60`and 8.02 @ 83 mph. What gives? With the 2500 we did 1.75-78 60`and 7.84-96 @88.7-89.9mph. This with the 2.73 gear. Could I have screwed up my setup by going to the 2800 with the 2.73 gears? Need answer fast. :mad  I thought short time would have improved with 2800.

It sounds like you need some sticky tires.

You are probably right. 2800 is probably way high for 273 gears. You should have stuck with the 2500 TC. I would probably go with a 2400 stall TC with 2.73 gears, but thats me.

You're either blowing the tires away with the 2800 or the gears are bogging the crap out of the engine once it hits. Got any datascans of the car so we can compare MPH to RPM?

Scorp508, I have not even had this engine tune since putting in the zz3 engine. For one, I don`t know much about the tuning part , except connecting my monitor 4000 to it to make sure I am getting proper input and out put reading. The tpis chip was burned for the stock engine. I am shocked that the car even run as good as it does. I do have nitto DR ON IT. The car also pings at times. I think I will go to a 2200-2500 stall. Any pointer as to what might cause this ping? thanks

Too much spark advance. If you have dr's, can you explain the varience in 60' times? Are they breaking loose on some runs? I have a 2600 stall with 3.07 gears and have ZERO slippage off the line. My car is slow, but my 60's are consistant as hell. I wouldn't be too quick to change the converter. Once the engine is tuned, you can work on the traction.

RACE ON!!!

There was some wheel spend each time. but the last run with the 1.83 60` there was no wheel spend. Mph was still way down (83mph).I have one of my old time slips and I had a 1.82 60` , and 7.96 but still ran 88.4 mph in the 1/8. Question: Would it be a waste of time and money to have Ed Wright to burn a chip for my set up? Would I see a difference in time?
