Last night on the way to look at another car (as a second car), my 93 stumbled a LOT when I hit the gas (50% + throttle). Temp at the time was 244 degrees. I let my Vette cool down and it seemed to run better. This morning, it was doing it again at just over 200 degrees. Only change made recently to the car was fueling up with 89 octane. I know it was stupid to do, but I thought I would give it a try. Do you think that is why I am stumbling? Thanks in advance.

You might pull your hypertech chip and see if it runs any better. Those chips are notorious for advancing the crap out of your timing, and they suggest that you use a 160 thermostat. If your car was running that hot with a lot of timing advance it could very well be your problem.
The hotter temps and the advanced timing could easily cause pre-igniton. Pulling the hypertech is a quick and easy way to see if it's your problems.
BTW, do you have a 160 thermo? They hypertech chip should be programmed to take advantage of it and turn the fans on sooner. Guess I'm just trying to figure out how it reached 244 degrees.

Yeah, I have the 160 thermo. I got stuck in 85 degree traffic for 15 minutes after running around 85 mph. When I came to a stop on the turnpike, it was at 219 degrees and slowly raised up. When I got off the turnpike, onto a side road, the digital temp was reading 244. That was when I got the stumbling (when I hit the gas more than 50% throttle). It has never had a problem with the Hypertech, which is why I am questioning if the 89 octane gas that I put in is just too low of an octane reading that the car does not like it at all or if maybe that tank of gas had some impurities in it (aka, water).
Not the gas Pal, I run 89 almost all the time. 244 with a 160, you've got other problems, are your fans coming on? Any crud (leaves etc.) in front of radiator? :seeya
Well, I just put in a tank of 93 octane. The stumbling is almost gone. I think I might have gotten a bad tank of gas. As for the temps getting up there, I am going to remove the shroud on Saturday and see if I can clean our in front of the radiator. I see a couple of leaves, but nothing that would hinder cooling that bad. Fans are both working. Next thought is that the thermostat I put in may not be working properly. If cleaning the radiator doesn't do it, that will be the next thing I will do.
