Friday night I intend to put a hurst shifter in my car and a camber brace. So, the exhaust will be dropped. As well as the X brace. Obviously a good time to swap in a new fuel filter.
Here's the problem. The car is FULL of gas. No time in between now and Friday to drive it empty. (wish there was) So.....is it possible to do this with a full tank or will it just keep spewing out all over the place?
I changed mine last month, I did it while the engine was cold & it didn't spray gas all over the place.
As far as I know, the only gas that leaks is the gas in the lines--not from the tank [if you take the filter off it will not drain the tank].
On my '85, only the fuel that was in the line came out. You might want to bleed the pressure off of the fuel lines. I pulled the fuse for the fuel pump and then ran the car till it stalled (maybe it didn't even start, I don't remember). Hope this helps.

Re: Fuel Filter Replacement (cicch95)
It really not too bad. Just get ready for some gas to drain out. I did mine and it was pretty easy. About a pint of gas as stated earlier. I would definitly remove the passenger side cat too for room.
