Different Dash Issue
Hey yall, this one has lead me to a stumper....my 85,dash lights up nice and bright for the first few seconds of the key turn and then goes dim. I have played with the brightness **** aka headlight switch and nothing. I thought it might be a voltage thing (still might be) but battery is charged and even through it on the charger to be sure, no help.......any thoughts??? Dash functions fine, just dim as all heck! TIA all!! :confused:

Given your symptoms, this suggestion is a long shot. But if all else fails, it's worth a try...
Check the ground wire from your coil. If it's dirty or loose, you can have issues. But usually, those issues will be a flickering dash and funny mpg readings.

Thanks for that page, Im going to start to look at that when I get a free second.....another symptom I found is that my driving lights seem to be non functioning now.....I think this may be a shorting problem, that seems to be triggered by the turning on of the headlights. Somthing like this happened last year, but was fixed by a low voltage battery issue, this time it happened again when I through the lights on.....grufff :confused: TIA guys!
