Almost every Torx bolt on the intake runner / plenum is accessible accept for the one underneath the plenum. What combination of ratches, wrenches, sockets, etc., do I use to get that last bolt out?
Re: Plenum Removal - Need Right Tool (JScott 88 C4)
I assume your seeing the MAT sensor underneath. The 4 bolts on the each side plus the power brake booster connection (on driverside rear, flare nut wrench) and assorted TB, vacuum line connections are all that need for removal. A good whack with a dead blow hammer (or regular sledge hammer with wood) is sometime needed.
Get a torx bit that is the correct size. Get a universal socket that fixs the shaft of the bit. Glue the bit in the socket with RTV or Permetex. I used quarter inch drive Sears stuff.

I'm not sure which bolt you're referring to as "underneath" the plenum.
If you are referring to the runner bolts that go into the intake, there are actually two, one on the driver's side rear and one on the passenger side front. Each is accessed with a torx but and a long extension but from the opposite side of the engine.
The only thing I can visualize as being underneath the plenum is the manifold air temperature sensor which is toward the rear, near the distributor. But it simply unplugs.

What am I missing here?

:iagree: Yeah for the plenum its just the T50 bolts, then the MAT which unplugs, and the power brake booster line, which is kind a pain, but a flarenut wrench will fit. Then a deadblow hammer to loosen it up if its never been off.
The best way to remove the rear is to remove the wiper motor first. :)
When I did the heads I puled the wiper first and man was it easy to get to
stuff back there.

Snap On sells a T-40 Torx socket that is 7" long made to take the Runner bolts out. I purchased one and it's saved me ton's of time and money. I purchased 4 torx bolts I stripped out for $4 each from the dealer. It is a worthwhile investment! Here is a link to it if you want to take a look. I can't remember if it worked on that bolt you are talking about but it definitely makes removing most of the runner bolts a breeze. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/pro_d...re&dir=catalog :flag
