I'm going to need a new clutch & flywheel. Rather than going nuts trying to match these items up spearately, and putting up potential clatters, noises, and god knows what, any recommendations on a good upgrade package? Not looking for exotic crazy stuff, just a good strong sensible replacement.
I did contact callawaycars.com, they have a package that sells for about $1,000 for a heavy duty single mass setup. They might have a standard dual mass setup for a little less. I don't know who the mfr. is, but the package is set up to callawaycars' specs, supposed to be pretty good. Who knows.
The other work needed that was just discovered is going to break my bank for at least 8 months. My engine is being sent to a machine shop to have the crank turned & polished, rod bearings replaced, rod bolts, new moly piston rings, cylinder walls re-honed, god knows what else, can't remember at the moment, my head is total mush........................... :cry
Ok... you need a single mass flywheel... get a GM Fbody SM Flywheel, take it to the machine shop and have them balance it with the rest of the rotating mass.
As for clutch? You will need a something like a Mcleod or Centerforce. Stay as far away from SPEC as you can!
You will need to get an Fbody friction disc and a corvette pressure plate.
You might need an adjustable pivot... get new hydraulics, too.
Benefit from my pain...just buy the whole Mcleod setup. It will fit and it will last. Call Merle at Exotic Muscle. Good guy, KNOWS Corvettes, and no BS.
