I have a 79 with a 89 TPI motor. Car runs 225degrees at highway speeds. 80 degree day air on in traffic runs 180.
I have new aluminum radiator, spal fans, 190 thermostat, new hoses, water pump and belts. Ingintion timing is set a 6 degrees. I have true dual exhaust so not cat involved.
Run the engine at 3200 rpm for about 3 minutes and car goes from 180 to 225 and the center of the cast irom exhaust manifolds start to turn red. Idle the engine and temp drops back to 180.
Checked for exhaust blockage with a vacum gauge, 19 inchs of vacum at idle. 17 at 3200 for about three minutes. Heard a slight popping/ miss when checking exhaust tips. Will change cap rotor and plugs next.
Any ideas on why engine is runnig so hot..... :banghead: :banghead:
