Re: TB bypass caps LT4 (larryfs)
Yes, they are 3/8" I believe. You should be able to find an assoertment of plugs, such as vacuum port plugs, at some part stores. I used plastic caps that cover fittings and the like on new parts I install at work.
Do you actually gain anything by removing the TB hose? I though it was better to keep on it to cool the tb...
The function of the coolant going through the TB is to keep ice from forming in the TB during the cold wet weather. The coolant runs around 200 plus or minus a few and the idea of the bypass is to eliminate the hot coolant from heating up the TB in hot weather which reduces your horsepower, hot air is less dense than cold air. Some say it works some argue it doesn't.
I bought mine at Pep Boys, they were hanging on the shelf,
packaged 2 per package.
Cost $1.99, I used 5/8, they fit perfect.
I believe the hose-to & from-the TB is also 5/8.
I did the bypass..cheap, easy, why not?? ...But does cold air make that much difference?? If it did I think we'd all be running a bootleg hose from an ac vent to throttle body...Can you believe I actually ponderd ways that could be done at one point?? :lolg: and if you think thats funny..you'd really like my thoughts on a "poor boys" supercharger! lol!
