This has only happened over the last few days, if I clear the code it comes back within 1/2 a minute of starting the engine. I do not know if is coincidental but I had a problem with the egr tube coming loose at the exhaust end a few weeks ago.
Can anyone describe how and when the egr functions, what dose the sensor do at the top of the egr tube? if i put a meter on it seems to stay within .1 of gnd?
I have checked the vac lines from the valve and they terminate in a twin fitting with an electronic connector on it on top of the inlet manifold, all connections seem fine.
Any help with how to fault find this would be great, also what are the opinions on using the car until I can sort this?
You could just junk the entire EGR system, then you have nothing to go wrong. You could still get a 32 even then - just ignore it or get it programmed out on your chip.
I have the complete EGR system from my car if you need any of it to fix yours - but why bother?
I think that`s wot most ppl do anyway - tho i`m not sure of the exact pros and cons - dunno if u can get pinging by taking it off - maybe only if u don`t do the job properly ? i`m sure sum one else will explain more technically...
I think the sensor ur refering to culd be the EGR temp switch .. (if its the one stuck in a pipe branching off the tube coming out near the rear of ur manifold not far from the distributor).
Thanks for the help guys, but has anyone got a description of how the system works, when should you have vac at the egr valve? what order of voltage do you get at the temp sensor ect so that I can try and track this down
