My interior light stay on when the door closes even after the car is turned off they turn off after like 15 minutes but then turn back on a again whenever I hit a bad bump. Why would they do that?
Re: Interior light staying on when door closes (Scott Muharsky)
If you'll go open either door on your vette Scott, you'll see a tiny switch at the end. It's near the hatch open switch. When you close your doors this switch is supposed to push in and allow the interior lights to cut off. With every other part, these can go bad. Only open one of your doors and press in the switch. After a few seconds of you holding your finger on it, the lights should cut off. Also check your fuse panel, as a faulty fuse might be the thing which is giving you problems. In the meantime, you can disconnect that fuse to avoid risking a dead battery. However in doing so you disable the power locks, and perhaps something else which is meant to be a convience like the power locks. I had the same problem, and mine turned out to be a bad fuse. What year is your Corvette? Mine is an 85 model, so there just may be a slight difference in years, and that's usually the case. If the lights come on as you're driving, chances are that little mechanism is faulty or loose allowing the switch to move just enough to cause the lights to come on. Hope that helps cure the problem so you can focus on more important things, like the sound of that V8.
Also when you press in that switch, study the rest of the door, as I believe there may be one more switch that needs to be press in. It's 1 in the morning right now, and I don't feel like going outside to check.
