84 - 91 vette headers??????
has anyone ever tried to bolt on a set of (older) lets say 82 headers? or does anyone know why they say they wont fit? just courius i guess....seems someone would of tried it by now, seeing how much more availible they are...

Yeah the pipes are shaped differently because of difference clearance issues. They should bolt to the heads but the pipes wont fit around stuff.

was looking for something a bit more descriptive.......like they hit the frame, starter is in the way, etc. not just that they wont fit , we have already been told that and i had already presumed that it was because of clearance issues but where? thanks anyhow for your parts counter like aproch to answer my question....anyone else?

Well- I didn't do one myself...but I read a post on the Crossfire forum of someone who tried 82's on an 84...they bolted to the head fine...but on the passenger side- where the big bump hanging out of the firewall is (I assume the heater core) was in the way...also, they did not bend down under the frame where the 4 pipes meet after leaving the head on the passenger sidecorrectly...the drivers side was more direct fit...except the brake lines and his clutch line were in the way...it took a great deal of bending and test fitting to get them in...he did though...but I believe after many a blown gasket...he went with Hookers for the correct year...he also tried LT1 shorty headers but the flange at the bottom would not clear the sensors on his block...
