I am thinking about building a 427 small block for my 86 coupe using either the world products block or the dart "m" block. I will probably use world rotating assembly. I'll probably keep compression around 10/1. I plan to run street only so cam will be moderate. I know Iwill have to replace the entire drive line such as tremec 6 speed and dana 44 with ~3.73.
I want to be able to kick the s--t out of most c5 and c6's. Reason being that I like the c4 body style but like the performance of the newer vettes.
Question is, has anybody built a 427 small block with one of these blocks 4.125 bore x 4.00 stroke)and what do I need to watch out for (other than the law)? Any suggestions on intakes? I'm leaning towards custom intake made from victor sr intake. Believe it or not I plan to keep it emmisions legal if I can figure out the plumbing. What are your thoughts?
We built a 434 with a production block and and eagle rotating assembly. It was no more difficult than a 383. We expected to clearance a ton and a new oil pan.Everything worked out well. We needed a smaller base circle cam though.
what rods did u guys use for that . my brother also biult a 434 with a stock 400 block he had to grind the poopie out of the rods i think because they were H beam rods .
I would consider bumping the CR to 10.5:1 or 10.75:1, my 406 is right at 10.97:1 w/.041 quench and it is very very very streetable,, I drive a stick and I can corner in 2nd gear and driver up to third with smooth powerful acceleration,,, a 427 could only better!
Now if a SC is in your futre, then 10 CRF is better but not ideal
