Default Interesting race day

Went to Cecil County, drove an hour to find out the AMC (AMX/Javelin) club rented out the track. Guess I should have called :bb . On the way back exhaust bolts rattle out of the collectors, AGAIN so I pull into a service station with the 90 bend under the diff draggin. New bolts, on the road again.

I went to Cecil because it was supposed to be T&T, open at 8 run at 9. Capitol is seven miles from my house, but they were running brackets, open at noon. We had a cookout planned tonight so the early time made more sense. It was in me though, had to run today, so off to Capitol I go...

So with new gears to take me deep into 5th (1:1)@ my best MPH (118) I managed to go....slower.

12.6 @113.5 60'....1.87
The first shift comes way too quick for me, NOT used to it

12.3 @112.63 60'...1.66
A little better, but too much shifting. MPH is down 5 from previous runs, but the weather sucks and we're driving into a good 15-20 headwind, slightly left to right.

Third run, got my first real scare and coasted to 15 something. I was lined up with a race car 60's GTO, low 10 high 9 car. He was way ahead early then blew up. Here's where that slight left to right on the wind comes into play, I was in the right lane. I was COMPLETELY engulfed in smoke, blinded. My first thought was, feels like a good run, stay in it. Then that scene from Days of Thunder went through my head and I got this image of slamming into the side of sliding 68 GTO and my heart jumped. Really stupid first thought I had, I'm doing 100MPH I know there is car that's laying oil down, that could very easily spin out on it's own oil slick and I can't see the front of my car Jumped on the brakes, like a smarter man would do in the first place.

Avg reaction time for the day.... .761

Felt good to get out again, definitely had some fun

Packed it up, came home and I'm lovin the Margaritas....

I defintely will, it's a 3 hr jaunt though. I'm working out trailer issues, most notably, nowhere to park it, and storage places charge too much. I just can't afford to break that far from home, and I don't mean the tow bill...

( I brought my slicks to BG, but decided Wednesday night it would be bad idea run them.)
