Default brake feel question

what is everyone brake feel? is it hard the second you touch the brakes or is it a little soft and progressively gets very hard? Mine is progressivly hard and i wish it was hard on the moment i touch the brakes. It almost feels like the after i realese the brakes the calipers have enough spring in them to push fluid back up to the M/C causing more pedal travel. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried a residual pressure valve that puts a small amount of pressure keeping the fluid from flowing back to the M/C? I know they are meant to be used in a situation where the M/C is mounted below the calipers causeing fluid to flow back but this seems like a similar situation. here is one from summit which i have used before with great results and was wondering if anyone had any experience with one on a vette http://store.summitracing.com/partde...260-1874&N=120 4294922533 4294922532 305681

Mine are soft anfd then they get harder. Of course its just the stock system which isn't really very good anyway. Soon I will be upgrading.

I wonder if this is normal. My pedal seems to have some play in at at the beginning of its travel. It has been like this since I bought the car. I put DOT 4 in the car and bled the brakes twice but the pedal feels the same. It goes down a little ways with almost no effort, but then you can fell the brakes come on. I am wondering if this is normal for these cars, or if I have an issue that needs attention. I would love to take it in somewhere and have it checked, but there aren't any places around here that specialize in Vettes.

I just recently replaced my stock rubber brake hoses with braided line and my pedal went from spongy to hard. I couldn't believe the difference.

This is a common problem. Rubber hose deteriorate from the inside out. When this happens, you can get many problems from pedal travel to a caliper locking up.
