The passenger side of my '96 rides about .5" higher than my drivers side.
I picked her up last week at the dealership from getting her 30K mile check up. (don't ask about why a dealership). I asked them, and two guys in the service department said that it is the torsion bars under the car. That one isn't as tight as the other. I was than later told by a huge Vette guy that there is no torsion bars on this car?!?!?!
I went from the dealership to a local dyno. I than asked the shop, fairly reputable in my area, their thoughts. He said that I probably cracked my rear spring, and that is why it is riding lower on that one side. I told this to the Vette guy from above, and I thinked he pissed his pants laughing so hard.
I've heard someone in the forum say that it is the driver weight. My car barely has 24K on it and I only weigh 200 lbs, so I don't think it is from this either.
It seems that its fairly common for the pass side to be a tad higher than the left.............don't really know why. I'd get longer rear spring bolts and adjust accordingly. It'll cost you about $20 and 45 minutes of you time. Its either that or get yourself a heavy girlfriend
I ordered the lowering kit a few weeks ago off of Mid Amer.
I got it last week, and put it in this weekend. (Mid Amer.'s kit is complete crap BTW, both lock nuts stripped out for me. Had to go to Napa @ 7:30pm to get replacements, finding a 9/16 lock nut is not an easy task at 7pm).
I ended up finishing the job, and it looks a lot better. My only question is...from the ground to the bottom of the car, all four corners should measure the same distance..right? (Maybe the rear a little higher than the front) At least from left to right. If I lower the back right more to compensate for this lean. I will have way to much weight over the right rear, thus negatively influencing my handling ability.
I wouldn't call myself an expert on the dynamics of handling, but I used the rear lowering kit to level out the back end and I've seen no negative effects on my car.

If I am wrong, please let me know!
You didn't adjust those nuts with the weight of the car on them, did you??
They should only be turned with the weight off the suspension.
Lowering a corner takes weight OFF that wheel/tire.
No. The the teflon (or whatever the hell it is) inserts stripped out while putting the nuts on initially. While everything was jacked up!!! I'm sitting there tightening the nuts, and all of a suddened I feel the nut break loose. I take out the wrench and sure enough, just below the nut, on the bolt, is that damn insert! I still need to call Mid. Amer. on this one!!
