Default VE tables and timing

When you make changes in the VE table (removing fuel) do you pull timing out too?

AS84,

I use LT1 edit im sure others may chime in but at least with the LT1's we generally don't do any changes with the VE , generally timing and perhaps the fuel enrichment..

hope this helps

I always try to change only one thing at a time-lots easier to figure out desired/undesired results

I haven't changed the timing but I reduced VE vs MAP by 5% at idle to get my BLMS at 128 and now the car won't idle cold.

Changes in the VE tables can be either adding or removing fuel. Generally this is done in Speed Density MAP based systems. I would get the fuel map done first then fine tune by moving on to the Spark Tables for PArt throttle

What are the chances that by increasing startup enrichment that my cold idle will return to normal (900 rpms)?

It is not necessary to take out timing if you take out some fuel in the VE tables. It is best as the other forum member mention to make small changes one at a time and then datalog to see the cause and effect of your changes. If you make to many changes all at once you won't know which change really made the difference for either the good or the bad.

Are you having problems with the idle speed? Changing the cold start enrichment typically will not change the idle speed. Unless for some reason the enrichment is so far off that its affecting the idle speed. First of all I would make sure that I didn't have a mechanical problem causing idle degradation (if this is your problem) before trying to make any tuning changes. No amount of tuning can fix a mechanical problem other than bandaiding it temporarily. If you have an cold idle problem make sure that there are no vacuum leaks, injector issues, sensor issues or fuel pressure issues.

no mechanical problems. I recently switched from a super ram to a single plane efi and the flow characteristics really effected my map sensor. I seemed to have fixed my cold idle issue by pulling more fuel out (3%) in the VE table from 400-900 rpms at 40-55 kpa. It idles better but due to rain I was unable to datalog. It seems as though every small change effects the IAC slightly. I also zeroed out the startup enrichment table and now it starts up on the first crank......something it has never done.
