If the engine is under 400 cid, you will be best served by 1 5/8ths" long tube headers. Ceramic coating optional, but highly recommended. Smog hook-ups as required.

RACE ON!!!

Well the 1 5/8th would be optimum but they are hard to find pricey. I still do not agree that there is some mythcal gigantic torque loss with 1 3/4 headers. My personal experiance has only been a positive one and my car has plenty of torque. Dyno proven results are coming soon. So unless you want headmans or can afford Exotic Muscle then go with Hooker or TPIS. They are good quality and have netted good HP gains for many forum members.

having a healthy mod list certainly makes the argument for 1 3/4"............otherwise I would do 1 5/8" without
a doubt.

There IS no "mythcal gigantic torque loss with 1 3/4 headers." There is a factual, sacrifice of a torque gain that the smaller tube headers provide.

For your sake, I hope that list includes somewhere up-wards of 50 cubic inches.

For my 383 I went with 1 3/4" Hooker # 2149.

They seem to work well with the 2.5 " dual exhaust, no cats to 2 chamber 40 series Flowmasters.

Well, mister smarty pants, would you not agree that it is tough to find affordable 1 5/8th headers without quality issues? You always complain about people with the 1 3/4 headers but what you ask for doesn't exist for them. I have no doubt the Exotic Muscle or lingenfelter 1 5/8 headers are the best header possible for a Corvette but they are $$ high as hell and Hedmans suck on quality.

Thus your next (and not a bad) choice is the Hookers or the TPIS.

Bah, screw all this header stuff.

I say run an individual pipe from each of the eight cylinders straight up out the middle of the hood, Top-Fuel style. That oughta keep you honest.

I can't recall complaining about the people with large tube headers. Please point out where I have complained about the people. I have pointed out that the larger tubed headers are not ideally suited to the needs of 95% of the people that inquire about them.

*I* have not shopped 1 5/8ths" headers and I am not aware of all the products available. Despite all the nay sayers, there are quite a few people on this forum that are very satisfied with their Hedman Headers. It would seen that many that reject the Hedmans, do so on their lack of the proper snob appeal.
...and Hedmans suck on quality.
Really? In what way? Do they not fit well? Do they not increase the power? Do they have a short life? Tell us YOUR experiences with the "low quality" Hedmans. *I*, among others, would like specifics.

"mister smarty pants" Indeed!
