I picked up the Hurst Billet shifter for the new ZF6, doing it out of the car made it easy, less than 1-hour!
This is a shorther throw, I hope it helps with the firm feel I am looking for! Sitting next to it on the garage floor and shifting, it seems pretty solid!
Let us know if it really is what they claim it to be...
Is it the black one??? and yes- the install with the ZF out of the car was easy...I have this (I think I mentioned it to you before) and it is GREAT! The distance between shifts is short and exact...the BIG plus to it is: you don't have to mod your 4+3 console plate at all to use all 6 gears! I have heard the the stocker binds all the way to the right without cutting the console...
Very ...you are going to have a blast! I just ordered a ball shifter ****- Hurst to compliment mine...It was 30 bucks...mates right up to that shifter...found them on Ebay...
does anybody elses short shifter rattle? i've got the B&M and it's awesome, but if i dont hold it, all i hear is a rattle. if i put a little pressure on it in any direction it'll stop. does anybody know what it is thats rattling and how to stop it? or is it just mine that does it? i still love the shifter and would put it in again, rattle or no.

Check the little metal shims that should be on the outside of the plastic retainers on each side of the shifter assembly, and the plastic retainers at that. Make sure they are in good. I've never tried the Hurst, to me it looks very close to the stock shifter which is too tall and the throw doesn't look like it would be as short and tight as a B&M. Nathan Plemons and I just installed my B&M yesterday.

This was one of the reasons I went with the Hurst as side by side, the Hurst just seemed to be a better quailty piece. The throw is shorter than the OEM and a little longer than the B&M, but it's like the 3 bears story; just right. Besides, it's a Hurst and for us old hot rodders, it's the only shifter.

Re: Hurst Billet shifter install (Strick)
I also installed the Hurst this weekend! I definitly made the right choice! It has a great short feel and, if your transmission is like mine, it is still long enough to muscle it around when it don't wanna go into gear too well!!!
