Default Question on AFPR and acceptable pressure

Installed an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Also purchased a new fuel pressure gauge.

With the adjustment all the way out, read 52 PSI. Adjusting the srew in raises the pressure even more.

What is acceptable pressure, and has anyone encountered this, was shooting for 45PSI.

Has anyone ever encountered a auge that was off? What could cause this excessive pressure?

Is the diaphram in the correct position. Iv'e heard problems when people put the diaphram upside down.
What make is it ? My holley has no problems, but I have read others have had problems with them interfering with plenum.

That reading is with the engine not running, no vacuum.

Give me a visual description of how the diaphram looks when it is installed correctly, and conversely when it is installed incorrectly.

This is an AFPR I bought on Ebay.

Thanks.

When I installed my Holley unit I set the static adjustment to about halfway. I did encounter interference with the plenum when I put it back on. The solution was to turn the wheel in about 1.5 turns. At start up this gave me a pressure reading of about 28-30 as I recall. With the pressure guage hooked up, engine running and vacuum line disconnected I set the pressure to 50psi.

The diaphram should have a "cup" where the spring seats. This should face up toward the top of the regulator.
