88 Antenna replacement success!
I posted how the antenna mast replacement kit I got said that I didn't need to rip into the car. Well I guess in theory, you don't if your plastic gear thing is intact. However more than likely you wouldn't be replacing the mast if it was. So anyway I was unable to replace the mast the easy way. I had to rip the stuff apart in the back corner, pull the wheel and the wheel well and pull the antenna motor off. Once I got it down I was able to open the motor case, pull out the broken gear ribbon and feed in the new ribbon and mast. I got it all back together and it worked like a charm. Many thanks to the members here as I used info found here as well as the stuff in my Haynes and shop manuals to put it all together. I had been avoiding tackling this job because it seemed daunting. Like most things, it wasn't as bad as I thought.
