1. I found a really nice set of American Wheels 16x8. The bolt pattern is right but the stock rims are 16x8 in the front and 16x 8.5 in the rear. Before I buy them are there any reasons why the new wheels would not work?
2. Where is the oil pressure sending unit located? My guage reads 80 Lbs all the time and I think the sender is bad.

Thanks in advance.

1.) your car came from the factory with four 16" x 8.5" wheels, unless it had the Z51 option. I that case it had 16"x 8.5" on front and 16 x 9.5" in the rear. Eight inch wheels should work OK. You have the common, 5 on 4 3/4" Chevy bolt pattern. Watch the offset of the new wheels. C4's have most of the rim, inside of the mounting surface. Common offsets will place the tread directly under the fender lip where it will rub.
2.) Just to the left of the distributor (the car's left), behind the intake manifold. 1984's had first and second design senders. Check if it is a one wire or a three wire sender before you go to get it.
I took a look and found two sending units (I think). One is mounted horizontally and the other more up and down. I think one must be the oil temp sending unit.
Looks like the wiper motor and the distributor have to come out to get to them.
You have the second design oil pressure sender with one wire. The larger of the two items, is the pressure sender. The other, smaller, two wire unit is the oil pressure switch for the fuel pump. I was able to replace mine by only removing the WW motor. Not too bad a job.
The oil temp sensor is on the left side of the block, just above the oil filter.
I got it changed out this morning. Thanks to my trusty Chiltons C4 manual I got the WW motor out pretty easy and from there it was a snap. My new stubby Craftsman 3/4 inch box end ratchet worked really nice for the R&R.
Now instead of reading 80 PSI, it reads 48 to 53 Lbs going down the road (hot) and about 30 at idle. Not too bad for 80,000 miles.
Glad you got it taken care of. That's better oil pressure than I have, especially at idle, but I have double your miles. You have a ways to go before you get it broken in. Mine is just starting to "loosen up". It keeps running better 1/4 mile times.
