I got a code 36 while cruising the other day....Car ran fine til i got home and i turned it off. Then i went to start it the next day, starts fine, but wont idle and wont stay running without my foot in the gas. Drops down to about 4-500 rpm and then just dies off. Doesnt run rough seems throttle response is good except for the fact that it won't stay running :mad So I follow the entire code 36 procedure in the 86 shop manual forum member agent86 gave me. Checked both relays for power, grounded the circuit manually, checked for voltage at proper maf sensor plugs....all tested out fine. Changed out both relays just in case and that didnt help either.....Start up the car after clearing the codes, it does the same thing, but no code 36 now??? Anybody have any suggestions on what to check next??
Re: Arghhh!!! Code 36......Car still doesn't start!!! (AGENT 86)
Emailed you IAC diagnosis
You da man Agent86!! You have convinced me to go out and buy a set of GM service manuals when I get some money....Diagnosing is so much easier when you have an idea what you are doing

I know. I deserved the poopie there. I still cant help but wonder why it threw that code 36 though if all is good at MAF. If your air intake temp control checks out look for loose or broken vaccume lines.
