I just got an E-mail from Varam. They said they just got the green light for final tooling today for the C-4. They also said the C-4 model works better than the one for the C-5!
I'm holding my cold cash waiting on them....did you notice that a few of cold air sys are for sale in the parts section
I'm ready with my cash too, bring it on. It's great to see a company that uses real engineering analysis and principles to develop products that kick rear. (As opposed to just throwing a duct and filters together). The C5 guys have proven over and over that their claimed performance gains http://www.vararam.com are the real deal.
Just got off the phone with V ram and it sounds like that is the one to get. They say that they are getting rid of the accordian tube and the intake will run much cooler. I ran some vacuum test on my car last week and I was at -1hg. They said with there system that it will be on the positive side and the intake will be much cooler. This is agood new!! My car has ran 4 MPH faster in the 1/4 after I freeze it down with ice for a 1/2 hour. They said that they will be on the market in a couple months.
They confirmed with me today that one will be available for 84-89.
Other than knowing about what they look like, I'm not that familiar with the C5 model. Living in CA, is this something I could use, or would I get dinged because it doesn't have a CARB number? Also, any speculations as to price on this piece?

I think the C5 ones are ~$600. I have no idea if they have a CARB# or not. Do intact ducts require them?
So will there be one for all C4's then or just the 84-89?
I specifically asked about 84-89 since that is what I care about. I can't imagine they won't have one (or two) for all of them if they are going through the trouble to make an 84-89 one.

Honestly, I dunno... I am new to the state, so I just assume anything other than a K&N and a cat-back will raise some eyebrows at the smog stations. Although it's not truly an "emissions" component, IMO it's pretty close. It participates in the A/F game which (partly) affects emissions, so I could see it needing a number. Then again, maybe not.
