I want to get a wideband O2 meter. I searched the archives and this unit looks very cool. It has a simulated narrowband output so you can hook it up to the ECM. http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/wbo2/default.htm
Is anyone using the simulated narrowband output to tune with. The simulated
O2 voltage would give you an accurate air fuel ratio and the scanner would
have all the other data but now the O2 reading would be accurate. Am I missing anything?
Has anyone built the kit or should I get it already built.
Have you seen my post in the scan and tune section about a WBO2 group purchase?? The GP is on thirdgen.org, inthe DIY Prom section. The unit we are buying is the Zeitronix ZT-2, regularly priced at $279 but we are down to $250 each right now. With 5 morebuyers it drops another $10.
There is also discussion right now as to the accuracies of using the simulated narrow band output to feed the ecm. One user over there has documented an oscillation noticeable when driving trying to do this. The unit he was using is the Inovative WB. Check out your options, and check the Zeitronix version, and you'll see how its a great value. The only thing it doesnt have is a display. I plan on running it to the laptop where its software makes a "dashboard" anyway. If you are interested in buying one, please join in the GP soon as we are planning to buy around the end of this week.
BTW- payment will go to Zeitronix directly, and your unit will ship from Zeitronix as well. There is no middle man collecting money or distributing WB's.
That sounds like it might be a good wide band unit in the group purchase. I bought a Techedge unit last year and think it works great. I don't use the narrow band output. I use the stock o2 sensor for that. Techedge has GREAT customer service and tech support.
They are a pretty good system. I have one that I built and it takes about 2 or 3 hours to complete. You can do it all in one evening depending on your soldering skills. If you have decent soldering and assembly skills its a peice of cake. The units work very well. And buying it in kit form saves you some cash.
I cant attest to either units accuracy or features, but the Tech edge "kit" that you have to assemble would cost more than the Zeitronix.
