I have two questions here and I'd appreciate some help and insights.
1. I have heard of a kit that allows you to drill a hole in the differential and install a drain plug. It supposedly has a template, etc. for boring the hole. Does anyone know who sells this? Has anyone tried this, and if so, how did itgo?
2. I am thinking of installing a synthetic gear lube in the rear end. What brands have you tried and what differences have you noted. Also... VERY important... with the synthetic lube, do you have to add the GM posi lube additive? It seems that both Royal Purple and Red Line think you don't have to add it if you use their products. Is this true, or should I add the GM stuff anyway?
MANY thanks for any help!

Per Gordon Killbrew (C4 Master) : Use Mobil 1 synth with (2) bottles of the GM posi-trac lube...
Thanks for the info. Greatly appreciated!
I did find the plug kit info in a book... finally! The Corvette Clinic in Florida does market the kit. They have their own website as well. Hope mentioning that on the forum is not forbidden.

Has anyone noticed any leakage as a result of using the synthetic lube in the rearend?
Also, Vinnie- thanks for steering me back to Mobil 1 gear oil. I'm now using the Mobil 1 oil in the engine, I never knew that they made gear oil as well! Glad to know I need two of the GM posi-lube bottles, I would have only gotten one if you hadn't clued me in on this! Thanks!
