Hi....hope I can explain this problem and have it make sense, and someone can give me some ideas.
94 LT1 A/T. Had the tires balanced, 4 wheel alignment etc and all seemed fine from the mechanics point of view. After a few hundred miles I was getting a vibration through the steering wheel and the seat of my pants at speeds of 40-42 and again in the mid 70's. Had the tires rebalanced, an alignment again but it did not correct the problem. Total transmission flush/check at 30k, the car now has 45k. Now I could go to a mechanic in my area (small rural area) and go through a very expensive process of elimination as they replace piece by piece till they find the problem, but there are more intelligent people on this board than I could find locally. Tires are in very good condition (5k) brakes about the same. I'm thinking U joints but don't really know how to check them. Transmission shift fine, running condition is great. Any thoughts on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It could be a driveline vibration but from out of balance, not u-joints I don't think. They can come and go at certain speeds too but I'd still have the tires checked again. Those speeds really lean toward a balance or other tire problem. Don't spend any more on alignments, it will neither cause nor cure a vibration.
It could be the balljoints, thats usually what it is if not the tire balancing.
I remember one other thing in the driveline that people were replacing that fixed it, it wasnt the U-joints though, I just cant remember what it was, and the search isnt working completely.
I had a simular problem on my 93, found out my bolts connecting my flywheel to the torque converter were loose. I tightened them to specs and the problem was gone.
