Default exhaust question

I've recently past 2 times changed my own oil in the vette. Well today I was looking around good when I was under it and noticed that the right cat was welded onto the exhaust pipe in the front AND the back and the left cat was welded to the exhaust pipe JUST in the front on the rear it looked like it was like bolted up to it.....was this how the exhaust is supposed to be on a stock 1995 vert? I was confused because my dad was the original owner and I know he didn't have anything done to the car like that it's 100% stock.

The ONLY think I can think of is once it had a little bit of a rough idle well we took it in and they said they replaced 2 of the 3 02 sensors. Well I had spongevette do a born on date for me and it only listed the car one time as having something done to it in it's history this is what it says...

"CLAIM HISTORY
R.O Date R.O Number Type Labor Operation Odometer Reading
01/09/2002 050671 B J6380 - SENSOR, OXYGEN (CATALYST MONITORING) - REPLACE 29677 miles
"

when I read this I thought "replace" meant the 2 02 sensors they replaced so you think they might have replaced the left cat? if so I don't remember them saying anything about replacing one of the cats....

confused here guys...

Can you post a pic or two? The stock exhaust is bolt on on the drivers side and a sleave fit which slides on the passenger side. Both cats are bolted onto the headers from there.

Sounds like it's stock. The drivers side from the catback is bolted and the passenger looks liek it;s slipped over and welded so sounds like thats how it should be.

I wonder why they did it that way...o well

thanks!

I always wondered that too. Yes that is the stock form though.

Yeah when I saw it I thought the cat had been replaced. I'm glad everything is stock and like it should be, when I saw it I was like ok great the only mod thats been done to my car I didn't even have a say so in! HAHA

I still have no clue why they did it that way.
