I believe it's my heater core that has gone to the crapper. I'll find out Friday when my mechanic is looking at things. Maybe it's just a hose right at the heater core, I'm not sure yet.
I do know that it puked some coolant into the passenger foot area. Luckily no one was in the passenger seat at the time.
I see that Ecklers sells it for $49 USD, so that's probably where I'm gonna get it.
Question: I hear it takes 4 hours to fix it. Would there be any negative side effects of just bypassing the heater core (like a throttle body bypass) or would it affect engine operation and/or AC controls?
If I can bypass it, that's what I'll do for now and then at a later date get a new core in it.
It will take more than 4 hrs to replace the heater core. If you have someone else doing the work, watch out for many nuts and bolts left over when he finish putting it back. Many forum member replace the heater core ~8 hrs time. Took me a total of 8-10 hrs also but that's 8-10 hrs of actual work the total time was 10 days. Had to take break every 15 mins working on that thing.
Dammit, I had a feeling! I don't care about heat really, and I don't use AC all that much, but I like knowing the fact that I can use it if I choose to.
