Default brake cooling ducts

A few weeks ago I did a search for threads on cooling ducts and I found quite a few. Some had good pics. Since the forum change I can't find the threads or pics. If any of you guys have installed brake ducts on your C4 I would appreciate any pics or info on how you did them. Thanks, Craig

I went with the Home Depot route. 2"X3" gutter downspouts rivited into the airdam. these are connected to a ~1.5 ft downspout, which is connected to 2.5" heat resistant flex tube which is avail from racing or aircraft parts houses. The $ is in the tubing (about $50), the other stuff is only a couple bucks and iv'e broken the fromt inlets a couple times by hitting the airdam on the road, but they are only like $2 to replace. I went with the 2.5" vs. 3" because I want to leave it on all the time and the 3" rubbs more on the suspension. Il'l see if I can find some pice to send ya.

The C4 is decieving in that what looks like a wide open wheel well, really has some pretty tight spots when you get near the wheel and suspension.

I ended up running (2) 2 1/2 inch hoses to the center of each caliper. Even with such a small hose size the wheel will tear up the hose when turning at full lock + some shock compression.

You can use the kit from Eklers which picks up air from a modified chin strap and then feeds the small guage hose along your sway bar. You'll still need to buy and mount a fixture to terminate the hose into the inside center portion of your caliper. You can buy these at any roadrace supplier. This should work well for street/autocross. You'll need more air for roadracing. That's why I added (2) ducts per side.

The sweetest set up that I've seen was a DRM C5 that used the forward portion of the framerail to duct the air and merely plumbed the air back out to the rotor through a reinforced 3" hole...cut right into the frame rail.

Good luck!
