Default Checksum

From what address to what address is checksum calculated
and what algorythm is used to calculate checksum.

My tuner is having some problems and I would really need
this infos to get the engine running good.

It would be also great if somebody knows at what addresses
are what maps located.

Thanks a lot!

I think WinBin includes a check sum utility, but I haven't used it in a long time, being spoiled by the TunerCat editor CATS. This shouldn't be too hard to find, though.

It is also possible to disable the checksum failsafe, by changing the ecm type to engineering mode within the bin file. Sorry don't have my laptop here with all the info on how to do this (haven't tried it personally). I will reply once I have access to my laptop if no one else chimes in first.

That info would be really helpful.
Will engine run normally if in engineering mode?

Hello Sliding, sorry for the delay

This information pertains to ecm type 32b

With a hex editor, change the following:

Byte 08: $32 -> $AA

This should bypass the checksum test.

According to my information, the checksum consists of 2 bytes (located at
addresses 06 and 07) and is the sum of address $C008-$FFFF.

Note: I haven't verified this.

Thanks for the info.
I'll try if this works on my ECM.
