Does anyone know what the required fitting would be on a 90 TPI schrader valve? I bought a nice auto meter fuel gage for the rail. THe gage has a male 1/8 npt fitting on it. When I took the screw on cap on the schrader valve off it had a rubber O ring in it and smelled like gas. Is this normal? What happens if I leave the "screw on cap" off? Will it leak? does the internals of the schrader valve have to be taken apart fror fuel to flow through to a gage? Basically...does anyone know how to attach an aftermarket gage? Thanks so much in advance. - Bill
mine on my 85 had a valve guide in just like in a tire.....and you have to take it out in order for the fuel pressure unit to work.it also keeps the fuel and pressure in the fuel rail with the cap off
Yes you will need to remove the valve in there and you will also need the fitting that connects the guage to the rail...unless it came with the guage.......The fitting you can order from summit racing and it's a EARLS fitting...I can't find the part number right now...but I have the package it cam in...I will try to locate it....
you may be able to mount it to your regulator...that's where I put mine(it's an accel);I took out the plug and installed it there instead of the fuel rail...just another option...Dan
Apollo, Thanks for the info, if you can find the part number let me know. Are the 90-92 the same as the 85-89 ? Also, how do I take the center section out of the fitting on the rail? Is there a special tool? I thought of buying the Accel unit for the fitting alone but I really like the looks of the new Auto meter unit and it was hard to justify spending 60 bucks just for the fitting. Talk to ya soon
