Default Steering wheel off center

The steering rack was replaced on my car before I purchased it. the steering wheel is about 1/8 turn off to the left when going straight down the road. I think the rack is centered because the steering wheel turns the same amount to lock from center both ways. I pulled the shaft off of the rack to try to turn it some but it is notched and will only go together one way. I also pulled the intermediate shaft off of the steering column at the firewall to try to turn it there but it is master splined also. I removed the steering wheel and straightened it up that way but the cam to turn off the turn signal is still out of alignment and it doesn't turn the signal off when it is supposed to. Is there a way to straighten this out or do I need to turn the input shaft on the steering rack a tooth or two?

You can make small changes using the tie rod ends.

Thats why I said SMALL changes.
I ended up pulling the wheel also because mine needed a large change. On my 86 I didn't have a problem with the turn signal cam
Good Luck

Put the steering wheel back where it belongs. Now take it to a reputable alignment shop and get a 4 wheel alignment. Should run between $60-$100. Problem solved.
