My 88 has had very strong exhaust fumes since purchasing it two years ago. I replaced the o2 sensor and plugs a few months ago. The car seems to run fine. Occasionaly, there will be a hard start. There have been no codes...I'm thinking a fuel injector problem, but would like some ideas......The fumes are bad enough to saturate your clothing if you stand behind the car for a few minutes....No smoke visible...Thanks.

yes, it has cats.....This problem is very perplexing because none of the mechanics I've tried have been able to give me a definite answer. It's always, "maybe it's the injectors" or whatever....If this was a car from the 60's, early 70's, I would say it's running rich, and simply adjust that. But with this car, who knows????!!
