Greetings all,
I had my car repaired lately and when I picked it up the mechanic said I had a broken transmission mount. I got underneath and did not see any mount I called the GM (= Got Money) parts guy and he said he did not see any transmission mount or one listed for a 1988 Corvette. Perplexed I know I need to call and verify, but want to appear semi intelligent whne I talk to this guy. Any experiences out there
Does anybody have a suggestion for a good manual to see the whole layout of my car?
The whole drive train on a C4 has only four mounting points. There are the two engine mounts on either side of the engine, as any conventional Chevy engine, and there are the two bushings at either end of the "batwing", or rear diff cover. The "C "beam bolts to, and supports the rear of the transmission and also, the front of the diff and keeps them lined up. Bogus is being generous. There really isn't a trans mount. Did the shop charge for rotating the radio *****? Greasing the muffler bearings?
Hi All,
Thanks for all the info and no the muflers bearing are lifetime lubricated and did not need lubing and I have theft locks on my radio ***** I am the only one who can rotate them, which is on a annual basis during the summer.
Does anybody have a photo or drawing showing this part? It would be much appreciated
Thanks, :*****
Hi VetteNoob,
Thank you very much I really appreciate the photo. Now I will know what the heck I am looking at. I called several Chevrolet dealers and none of them had a clue or a diagram showing that part and a couple never heard of it. I don't know if I should ask why you happen to have a photo of the part ... I am sure there must be story behind it
