If the 'clicking' sound is the solenoid, and the engine doesn't crank, go to your manual and read the section " Starter solenoid clicks, but engine cranks slowly, or not at all". You will see a decision tree that just involves taking some voltage measurement to help determine your problem, which could result in: replacing starter (done), replace negative batt cable, replace positive batt terminal, replace batt (check done).
The info in my '93 manual may suffice, if you don't have one for your year. I will email you a pic of the 'tree', if desired.

Thanks for the offer Don. I've got the Helms for my year but I'm just a "girlie-man" so I let the guys at the shop take care of it...
I was going to wait through the weekend before I reported back but so far, so good. I'd say I've had about a dozen cold starts since then and no problems so far...
It looks like my problem and yours are very much the same... I took the starter out today and took it to Napa, turns out it is bad as well.
We have a place locally that will rebuild it for about $100 so that is where it is. Tomorrow I pick it up and put it all back together.
Many people have said it is easy to R&R the starter...I beg to differ! I had to take the cat almost all the way out so I could move it out of the way, the starter bolt on that side is not reachable with the cat in place, all in all it took about an hour to get the starter out, that is with just the front on jack stands.
I can't wait to get it back on the road, the weather has been great.

Yeah Chris, I was going to wait a couple of more days before I officially "closed" this thread but I haven't had a problem since my starter was replaced last week. I think at this point it's safe to say it was a bad starter. Good luck on the second R in your R&R and enjoy that weather....
