Default '90 Clutch setup

What are you guys running for a clutch in your 6-speed cars?

I just got a single mass flywheel from Hrocks (Thanks Tom) and wanted to know what people were using for a clutch. I have searched this forum and a few others and come up with three options.

1) I can use the stock clutch, but the chatter will be so bad that my ears will ring.
2) I can use a clutch out of an LT1 equipped camaro and the stock Vette pressure plate. Apparently the stock clutch in an LT1 camaro is a sprung clutch? Anyone have this setup? I am especially interested in this setup.
3) Buy a centerforce clutch and pressure plate.

The reason that I am so interested in the second option is because my father works at a parts store and I can get the stock parts for cost (around $165 for PP and clutch). I have read that you can buy the Centerforce setup for around $280, anybody get it for that price? I have looked and only seen it in the $400+ range. Which Centerforce clutch did you use? The dual friction clutch or the gold series?

This is all going in a fairly stock 1990 6-speed coupe. I am replacing the clutch/PP/flywheel, throwout bearing, release bearing, master and slave all at the same time. Anything else?

Mark, whatever you decide on, double and triple check that the stacking height of ALL of the components is identical to the DM OE setup. If it's "thicker" it's going to cause the clutch to engage too high, and you may overdrive the fork into the clutch cover. That FW was machined to perfectly mate up with a Valeo (OE) PP. IMO, unless you are building a monster torque motor and are going to dump the clutch, the OE stuff is pretty much bulletproof. (I agree that you want a sprung hub with an alum FW...) I "sold" my OE DM setup to a Forum member a couple of years ago, and it had ~40k on it and it was like brand new. I never drag raced, but I did AX and use it on roadcourses. Just an FYI...

Does anyone know/have the thickness measurement for the stock dual mass?

I just bought the Centerforce # 700105 single mass direct replacement and would like to compare.

Tom, Do you know if the clutch disc for an LT1 Camaro is a spring-type or more like the DM OE clutch? I definitely am looking for a torsion dampening type clutch. I don't mind the clatter, as long as it is not too loud.

I believe that it's a sprung hub. I don't know the thickness nor the hub length, so make sure it's suitable for whatever PP you use.
