Default Turbo cam recommendation needed

This is for a 383 LT4 with 9:1 cr. The car is a daily driver and will be putting the turbo on later. The Comp Cams guy recommended these specs.

0.555 lift I/E, 236 (050) degrees (advertised 281 duration) 114 centerline.

Depends on the turbos used, the header or manifold design, rpm and target boost pressure.

Here is my problem. My engine failed and have to go with a rebuild of course. It is my daily driver so I don't have the time I want to get educated on the turbo world which is very frustrating. I don't have the money right now to go with a turbo so I will be drving around for a while NA. I am looking for a cam that would work properly with a turbo.

Since I don't have a turbo in mind I suppose I can not expect an optimal cam setup right now. I would be happy with 600-700 rwhp. The stock ecm is good for 7200 rpm so maybe 3000-7200 for the power range.

I just want to get the engine built correctly so I don't have to go back inside it again when it is turbo time. Of course I am getting getting forged internals.

Id just run a Hot Cam until youre ready to do the turbo kit. Changing a cam will be small potatoes compared to everything else you'll be doing to the car.

Actually a hot cam should work resonably well with a turbo. With its split pattern and longer exhaust duration and a reasonably wide lobe separation it should work well. It would be better if it was at 114 but we all know that cam runs at least to 6800 and with a turbo blowing into it making power to 7000 should not be a problem. Plus its mild enough to be a daily driver.

However I would definitely upgrade the heads with some additional CNC porting and upgrade the, rocker arms, valve springs and retainers to make it suitable for 7000 RPM.

Well I decided to build the motor NA because I do not have the time to do the research I feel is needed for me to be comfortable. Anyway, my mechanic has built 50+ 383 motors with 525+ fwhp with HR so I feel better going with something that is a proven winner. I just did not like all the unknowns hoping a turbo engine would run well NA.

Thats the best way Remember the KISS method? KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID

Sometimes like when I am having to replace my blower belt I wish I would have just built a killer 396. But when I stick my foot in it afterwards having a blower is pretty rewarding. I wish someday some one would come out with a new Dart M or similar casting for a LTx block. That way I could build a 454 LT4 engine, then I would get rid of the blower.......or how about a blown 454 LT4
