Default Power Antenna replacement question

The power antenna is messed up on my 84 and am going to replace it.

I found an upgrade (http://www.madvet.com/shop?frame=3.128.1074) and a replacement.

Which should i use, the stock replacement or the upgrade? Is the upgrade a direct plug in or do I need to cut wires? I don't want to cut wires so Can I go with the upgrade?

Thanks

What's wrong with your old one? Did the mast break or does it not work at all? I found a new replacement mast on ebay for mine for $10 and it only took an hour or so to replace it. If it is just the mast, let me know and I can see if I can find the guy I bought mine from. I think he sells radio stuff.

I'm not sure whats wrong, but it wont go down all the way. It also struggles sometimes going up and down.

The reason I'm not rebuilding it is because I'm not sure if it is correct. It has been removed before because the large nut was not screwed into the body.

I think it would be easier to replace than rebuild. Besides I havent spent much money on this car, and dont want the headache. I would rather mount it and go.

I haven't done mine yet but I believe the Harada one is the way to go as it is supposed to bring in more reception as the newer vettes have already have this feature stock. Stock 84 - 86 I believe has the inferior antenas.

Mine went as well. I just use it manually at this point.

Good Luck. I would think connection won't be an issue.

If you are going to replace the whole thing, get it from www.tld-corvette.com almost half of what Mid Am charges.

I see the antenna. http://www.tld-corvette.com/catalog.htm

They don't have the 84 antenna, but will the 88-up antenna work properly in my car? I've seen the upgrade kit in mid-america, but does the 88 antenna work?
